Chidi Mokeme returns as Gulder Ultimate Search host
After nine years of dazzling millions of television viewers in Nigeria as the first host of the Gulder Ultimate Search, Nollywood play boy actor, Chidi Mokeme is back as the anchor of this year’s reality television show.
Gulder Ultimate Search 9 finalists were unveiled last Sunday, at the selection in Lagos.
At a glamorous final selection party held inside the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Mokeme was announced as the host of this year’s edition by the event compere, Cool 96.9 FM on-air personality, Freeze. Also at the event, the last 12 finalists were unveiled.
They are: Female: Kofya Brown, Bornford Patience, Ayo Ojueromi, Uzor Osimkpa, Udodi Onyinyechukwu, and Ezeh Priscillia. Others are: Male: Ujam Emmanuel, Nuhu Haruna, Ogbuefi Michael, Ifet Iniobong, Ojezele Paschal and Adah James.
This year, over 30,000 young and agile Nigerians registered to participate for the search. They all went through several physical and mental exercises at locations in Owerri, Benin, Makurdi and Lagos. Out of these, 30 contestants were selected and invited to Lagos for the final selection process.
Last night, 12 were selected to proceed to the Usaka Forest in Obot Akara Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State, where this year’s edition of Gulder Ultimate Search will hold.
The GUS 9 winner will walk away with a cash prize of N9 million, N500,000 wardrobe allowance and a brand new SUV worth N10 million.
This is in addition to the bragging rights of being referred to as the Ultimate Man or Woman, with its numerous benefits. Last year, it was Darey Art Alade and Bob Manuel Udokwu, who jointly hosted the show at Ososo Forest in Akoko Edo, Edo State.
For this year, apart from Mokeme, three past winners of Gulder Ultimate Search will be playing the role of Gatekeepers. They are Dominic Mudabai (Gulder Ultimate Search 4 winner), Michael Nwachukwu (Gulder Ultimate Search 5 winner) and Christopher Okagbue (Gulder Ultimate Search 8 winner).
Mokeme anchored the first two seasons of the reality show (2004 and 2005) and Austin ‘Tintin’ Imevbore, a former on-air personality, also anchored Season 3 (2006). Bob-Manuel Udokwu has been the show anchor for the past five seasons (2007 – 2011), while Dare Art-Alade co-anchored Season 8, which was held in 2011, with Udokwu.

Winning MTN Project Fame is a dream come true – Ayo
Twenty-five year old Ayobami Ayoola last Saturday emerged the star prize winner of MTN sponsored Project Fame West Africa (season five), smiling home with a brand new Toyota Rav4, N2.5 million and a mouth-watering one year recording contract.
The grand finale show which held last Saturday, at Ultima Studios, Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos, witnessed special performances from Style-Plus of the famous “Olufunmi” hit track; Chidinma, winner of MTN project Fame season 3 and Flavour. The finalists were also on stage to perform their personal composition.
Out of the seven contestants who made it to the grand finale of the music competition, Ayo emerged winner, having gotten the highest number of votes from viewers, both within Nigeria and the whole of West Africa.
Ayo was closely followed by Marvelous Odiete, Adetoun Adekoya and Ella Nnabuchi, who emerged the first, second and third runners up respectively.
An elated Ayo, speaking briefly after he was announced the winner of the show by the hosts, Joseph Benjamin and Adaora Oleh in a tension soaked night, said winning the competition is a dream come true for him.
Young Ayo, whose music talent was discovered by his father, a pastor, said on four occasions, he had tried to participate in Project Fame, but couldn’t scale the audition hurdles. “But when I eventually made it to the Academy this season, it was a big achievement for me, and coming this far to become winner is a dream come true.”
The first runner up of the show (Adetoun) won a brand new Toyota Corolla and N1.5m, second runner up (Marvelous) got a Toyota Yaris and N1m, while the third runner up (Ella) smiled home with N1m cash prize.
MTN Project Fame West Africa is a reality music show. This year, 15 contestants made it to the academy from a wide pool of potentially famous young stars from off screen auditions. Auditions were held in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, and selected states in Nigeria.

The man in the photo jumped down from his Range Rover and Ran Mad, within few minutes, People gathered at the scene and said he started displaying series of madness, pulls off his cloth, saying different un-relevant things..
Other sources say he is one of those so called ‘Yahoo Plus’ boys.. That do anything for cash.. And he was very rich… Hmmmmn..

Mikel Obi floats record label
Chelsea and Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel has made foray into music with the setting up of a label named Matured Money Minds.
To prove his seriousness the Champions League winner with Chelsea last season, has signed on four acts, Splash, Kido, Edgar and Charass.
With the help of his younger brother Patrick Obi, the 25-year-old football star has set up his Matured Money Minds (MMM) entertainment label and has already signed a couple of music acts
Mikel who has a relationship with P-Square, is hoping to take music promotions in Nigeria to another level. Mikel was born in Jos, a City that has produce great acts like P-Square, MI and Ice Prince.
“Mikel had always showed his love for music. Setting up a label is just a confirmation of his desire to contribute to the growth of the industry in Nigeria,” said a source.
It was gathered that the artists on the label have already cut their album and full promotions are in the pipeline to promote and make then rub shoulders with the biggest artistes in the music industry in Nigeria. The acts include: Charass, Kido, Edgar, and Splash. Mikel’s younger brother, Patrick will be in full control of operations.
